27 May-15 June 2005. Barcelona has a vibrant community of gays and lesbians from around the world. The Catalan capitals Gay Pride festival is an 11-day extravaganza of special events - live shows, cabaret, and leading DJs - taking place at some of the citys top gay clubs. Among the clubs on the schedule are Salvation, Ken @ Discotheque, Metro, Gay T Dance, Dietrich and Zeltas and the Arena. On the more serious side there are open debates and symposia on topics ranging from homosexuality to education. The organisers present special Pink Triangle awards to people who have helped improve gay civil rights, while Pink Booby prizes go to those noted for their intolerance.
