Rome Christmas Crib exhibition: 100 Presepi 2019.
7 Dec-12 Jan. The 2019 edition of 100 Presepi, Rome's international nativity crib exhibition, takes place once again on Via della Conciliazione after leaving behind its former location in Piazza del Popolo last year.
Now in its 44th year, 100 Presepi was established in Rome in 1976 and today is hosted by the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelisation.
A firm fixture on Rome's Christmas calendar, each year 100 Presepi hosts some 150 Nativity scenes from Italy and more than 40 other countries.
In addition to contemporary reproductions of traditional 18th-century Neapolitan and Sicilian cribs, and 19th-century Roman mangers, there are modern versions made from wood, papier-mâché and terracotta, as well as unconventional materials such as sand, rice and metal.
The 2019 edition of 100 Presepi will be held at Sala S. Pio X on Via della Conciliazione from 7 December until 12 January 2020. For full details see website.
