Twelve traffic lights and a satellite system will be installed along the Tiber as part of a flood warning system for the pedestrian and cycle path. If a central measuring system situated at Ponte Risorgimento shows that the level of the river is putting the path at risk, traffic lights situated at 12 different stations along the Tiber will show a red light warning cyclists and pedestrians not to proceed. The satellite system will also automatically alert authorities to the flooding via text messages to the mobile phones of those responsible for the upkeep of the system.
