Rome public transport strike on 25 June

Transport union calls strike over health and safety of ATAC workers.

Employees of Rome's public transport company ATAC are scheduled to engage in a 24-hour strike, effective from 08.30 to 17.00 and from 20.00 until end of service, on Tuesday 25 June.

The USB trade union says the strike has been called over frequent attacks on ATAC staff and the alleged presence of "lethal" fine dust in the air in the tunnels and stations on Rome's underground network.

The strike affects Rome's buses, trams, metro and light rail services Roma-Lido, Termini-Centocelle and Roma-Civitacastellana-Viterbo.

The strike had originally been scheduled for 20 June but was postponed by five days.
