Drivers swap coins for payment by smartphone

Payment for parking in Rome's striscia blu (blue) parking zones can be made via smartphone from 12 February.

The "atac.sosta" service allows drivers to make an electronic payment for their parking space using their smartphone, by text message or by calling from any mobile phone.

To activate the electronic payment go to the ATAC website and select the “atac.sosta” option.

Here you can register an account, by entering your phone number, email address, license plate number and chosen method of payment.
