The influences that forged the art of Croatian artist Ana Tzarev were the inspiring presence of Renaissance art and the heritage of centuries of deeply rooted culture, and the hardships imposed on her homeland during world war two.
Her work reveals her formal, classical education and a natural empathy for the dispossessed. Tzarev's paintings centre on her observations and experiences gained from worldwide travel, and reflect her knowledge of the history and cultural traditions of the lands she has visited. Ana Tzarev chronicles dozens of rituals and scenes of daily life worldwide.
This selection of paintings focuses on her love of colour and the forms of nature.
