The Recognition of Sankutala by Kalidasa.

13-16 Nov 2008. With the Natana Kairali Company for Romaeuropa Festival. Kalidasa is considered to be the greatest of all ancient Indian playwrights. His work, The Recognition of Sankutala, is a well-known Sanskrit drama and widely considered to be a masterpiece. It is a play in seven acts, which begins with the encounter between a great king and the miraculously beautiful Sakuntala whilst hunting in the woods. They fall passionately in love and Sankuntala is overwhelmed by passion for the king despite, at first, seeming to reject him. In Sanskrit with subtitles.
