22, 23 June 2009. In Apocrifu, choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Acclaimed as one of the most exciting contemporary choreographers, Cherkaoui was born in Antwerp to Belgian and Moroccan parents. In Apocrifu, he weaves together the soaring polyphonic choral music of the Corsican group A Filetta with the contrasting styles of Yasuyuki Shuto from the Tokyo Ballet and Dimitri Jourde, a dancer and circus artist. The result is a powerful and thought-provoking work that grapples with the idea of the supremacy of written language over the body. Villa Adriana.
