Rome's Vitala Festival returns with concert and exhibition

14 Sept. The eighth season of Vitala Festival, the philanthropic programme of cultural events, opens with a concert and art exhibition at Teatro S. Genesio in Rome's Prati district on 14 September.

The evening begins with the inauguration of an exhibition of paintings by Mariarty, an accomplished Rome-based Russian artist, designer and illustrator, from 19.00-21.00. Titled Music for your Eyes, the show will feature recent works created in Rome as well as several earlier works from Russia. Her paintings are described as "visions of past and future, colourful glimpses of dreams and visions, sounds of music ‘that you can hear with your eyes’." The exhibition will run until 28 September with free admission.

At 21.00 Vitala Festival hosts a concert by Groovanda, a band formed and led by accomplished bass player Enrico Bevilacqua (Mr EB), who has performed for several 6 years with acclaimed trumpet player Patches Stewart, longtime collaborator of greats such as Marcus Miller and Quincy Jones. Groovanda comprises a group of accomplished musicians who will perform a set of funk, jazz & soul numbers. The band will be joined by special guest, singer and rapper Keyo.

The Vitala Festival hosts an annual programme of mainly live music and visual arts, running from September to June.

Tickets to concert (€15, reduced €13) includes first drink at foyer bar. Concert at 21.00. From 20.00 an optional buffet with refreshments will be available.
