5, 14 and 15 Sept. Three international orchestras make up part of the Accademia S. Cecilia programme before the opening proper of the symphonic season at the beginning of October. The first is a concert by La Scala Filarmonica conducted by Daniel Harding with a programme dedicated to Armenia on the 100th anniversary of the genocide. This is followed by two international youth orchestras: the Orquestra Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata de Mexico conducted by Gustav Rivero Weber (14 Sept) and once again this year the Qatar Philharmonic, conducted this year by Dimitri Kitajenkowith in a concert of Russia music (15 Sept).
