Violinist Joshua Bell plays Bruch's Scottish Fantasy inspired by Scottish folk melodies. The programme, conducted by Marc Albrecht, includes Wagner's Flying Dutchman and Schumann's symphony no 2, which was the third symphony he composed. Bell, who has a long recording history to his name, was named music director of the Academy of St Martins in the Fields in 2013. The romantic tale of his priceless 300-year old Stradivarious is told in the documentary Return of the Violin by Haim Hecht. Accademia S. Cecilia.
