Festival della Letteratura di Viaggio
11-13 Sept. This interesting festival is dedicated to the art of travel literature in its various forms: books, films, photographs, drama and blogs, and is organised by the Italian Geographical Society and Federculture.
The eighth edition of the festival includes numerous encounters with authors, journalists, travellers and storytellers, including the celebrated Scottish historian, writer and broadcaster William Dalrymple, and Elizabeth Chatwin, wife of the late English travel writer Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989).
There is also an exhibition entitled Africa, Italia: A Passage to Eritrea. Crossing Ethiopia Today. Libya, the Captain and Me. Somalia, Time Ago which runs from 11-12 Sept and takes place — like most of the other festival events — in Villa Celimontana’s Palazzetto Mattei and its gardens.
