27 Feb 2010. In Agwa and Corriera, choreography by Mourad Merzouki. The choreographer explains that the word kafig means almost the same in Arabic and German: it refers to a cage. Merzouki used the word as the title of the first piece he made in 1996, for six dancers. He also took it as the name of his company, a Brazilian group of contemporary hip hop-based dancers whose animal energy, street-savvy instincts and theatrical intelligence break down barriers between spectator and performer.
