Notwithstanding its financial difficulties, the current director Giorgio Mancini has created a new work to be premiered during the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino festival. His reworking of Shakespeares classic gives a psychological solidity to the main characters, and a contemporary socio-political reading to the Capuleti-Montecchi conflict.
