24 June-20 July 2005. The Accademia di S. Cecilias open-air summer season continues with its cycle of symphonic music with the orchestra conducted by Riccardo Frizza in a "Verdi Gala" with exerpts from Verdis most popular operas (13 July). On 20 July, young South American composer Gustavo Dudamel conducts Beethovens 9th Symphony. The second part of the programme dedicated to great female voices presents concerts by Cassandra Wilson (18 July), and South African legend Miriam Makeba (21 July).
