American Academy in Rome

8, 9, 10 March. Concert series by the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra. The concerts represent the culmination of a week-long residency at the Academy and feature music by Henze, Brahms, Schubert, Schnyder, Kurtag, and Dvorak. Also featured will be work by the Elliott Carter Rome Prize Fellow Jesse Jones and the Luciano Berio Rome Prize Fellow Anthony Cheung.

13 March. Exhibition entitled Martino Gamper and Jason Dodge: Design and Narrative in the Found Object. The exhibition in the AAR Art Gallery and in the Cryptoporticus of the McKim, Mead & White building looks at the everyday world through the work of two artists who have a common fascination for the potential of the found object. Dodge's installations find new narratives in the insignificance and marginality of every day objects taken; Gamper has a particular interest in the psycho-social aspects of furniture design, including corners and underused spaces. After the inauguration the exhibition is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 16.00 to 19.00 until 29 April.

27 March. Lecture by Stephen Greenblatt on Lucretius and the Survival of Dangerous Ideas (18.00). At Villa Aurelia.
