69th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
30 April-23 June 2006. Founded in 1933, the Maggio is Italys oldest music festival. Due to financial cuts, this years programme includes only one opera staging, Verdis Falstaff, but the symphonic and chamber music sections reserve a few treats. Most concerts are dedicated to Mozart and conducted by big names. The only dance event to grace the programme is the ballet Callas, with choreography by Reinhild Hoffmann, at the Teatro la Pergola (8-14 June).
