Italy celebrates Earth Day 2023 in Rome

Rome hosts more than 600 events for Earth Day 2023.

Events to mark Earth Day, an annual event to raise awareness about our natural environment and how to conserve it, are being held in Rome and across Italy on Saturday 22 April.

Rome's celebrations for Earth Day Italia 2023 include more than 600 events dedicated to the environment and sustainability, taking place at Pincio and the Galappatoio in Villa Borghese from 21 to 25 April.

The programme of Earth Day events in Rome includes shows, talks, art installations, live music, street art and workshops for children.

First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day serves as a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life.

Now in its 53rd edition, the theme of this year's Earth Day is 'Invest in Our Planet', with events organised in countries around the world, including Italy where the day is called Giornata Mondiale della Terra.

For details of environmental-themed events taking place in Italy on 22 April see Earth Day Italia website.
