Hostaria Farnese in Rome
Tucked away discreetly on a side-street between Campo de' Fiori and Piazza Farnese, the unassuming Hostaria Farnese offers authentic Italian cuisine in a peaceful setting.
The restaurant is decidedly old school - the waiters wear white jackets, there is no "buttadentro" outside waving a tacky tourist menu; it doesn't have a website.
However guests are assured of a warm welcome, with specialties including pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale, bucatini amatriciana, and the homemade tiramisù with surprise twist.
Excellent service, outdoor seating in warmer weather, closed Thursdays.
