Michelangelo carving on show.
A small crucifix carved in lime wood, believed to be by Michelangelo, has gone on display at the Museo Horne in Florence. The carving, only 41.3 centimetres high, is anatomically correct and extremely beautiful. Experts say that it dates from about 1495 when Michelangelo would have been 20 years old.
The crucifix, which is privately owned, will be on display until 4 September at the Museo Horne, Via dei Benci 6, Florence; opening hours from 9.00-13.00. Sun closed. For information tel. 055244661.
