Secret Rome: La Piccola Londra (Little London)
Rome's Flaminio district hosts a short private residential street whose English architectural style has earned it the nickname La Piccola Londra, or Little London.
This unexpected taste of England is characterised by relatively low houses with steps leading up to front doors and gardens out the back.
Via Bernardo Celentano was designed in 1909 by architect Quadrio Pirani who wished to recreate the feel of a residential suburb of London.
The cobblestoned, gated street, measuring just 200 metres long, is located between Via Flaminia (number 287) and Viale dei Vignola.
