The Stag

The opening feature film at the IrishFilmFesta is The Stag which is screened following a welcome address by the Irish ambassador to Italy, Bobby McDonagh, on 27 March at 20.30.

John Butler directs this comedy about a bachelor party weekend in the great outdoors that takes some unexpected detours.

Fionnan (Hugh O'Conor) is becoming a little too involved in organising his upcoming wedding so his fiancée Ruth (Amy Huberman) pushes him into going on a stag party so he can wind down.

Fionnan and his old friends prepare for what they think will be a relaxing weekend in the Irish countryside but everything changes when Ruth insists that her brother (Peter McDonald) tags along.

Known as "The Machine", his dominating, excessively-macho personality combined with his constant search for danger transforms the stag party into a decidedly unforgettable weekend.

The IrishFilmFesta take places from 27-30 March at the Casa del Cinema.
