31 Jan-25 April 2004. Richard Wilson has installed a film projection entitled "Bank Job" in the vault of the Palazzo delle Papesse, which is blacked out and illuminated only by the film itself. This shows a fuse burning through the streets of suburban Siena and into the city centre, travelling faster and faster as it heads towards the palazzo. As viewers watch the fuse apparently reaching the vault they are in, the film cuts to an explosion played in reverse, as if being sucked back from its most explosive moment. The soundtrack suggests the door to the vault has swung shut, and viewers hear the sound of heavy locks being closed before being plunged into complete darkness. Wilson describes the film as a lie and a reversal, and says that rather than the expected breaking in associated with explosives and bank vaults, he hopes to create an illusion of incarceration with the same materials.
