10 June-25 July 2004. "Enlightenment on the road to Damascus" is the theme of this multidisciplinary festival that focuses on cultural cross-overs between east and west. It is one of Italys most interesting high-quality summer events, thanks to the artistic professionalism of La Scala conductor Riccardo Muti (who comes from Ravenna), and the rigorous artistic research of his right-hand man Franco Masotti. This years programme includes many concerts conducted by Muti as well as Verdis Macbeth and a tribute to Dallapiccola and Petrassi. In the dance section there are Bjart and Momix, and the drama section offers a wealth of unusual discoveries. Performances take place in stunning settings scattered around the Byzantine city.
