Hot/Chaos Poetry &/in Translation

St Stephen's Cultural Center Foundation presents Hot/Chaos Poetry &/in Translation featuring Moira Egan's Hot Flash Sonnets and Damiano Abeni's Caos, Pendole, Cocomeri on 19 November at 19.00.

"As her title promises, Moira Egan tilts the sonnet to a new angle here as she explores the decline and ultimate vanishing of the female body. Her unabashed admissions, balanced by the sonnet’s strictures and the wit of her endings, extend to the reader the double pleasure of craft and disclosure." Billy Collins, former US Poet Laureate.

"If in bookstores or on a literary journal we find some important poetical voice from the New Continent, or works of poets who are famous in their country but practically unknown in Italy, there is a good chance that it was Abeni who discovered them for us. […]" Paolo Febbraro, Il Sole 24 Ore.

Abeni has been a prolific translator of American poetry into Italian over the last 40 years, while Egan is a celebrated American poet based in Rome.
