Until 19 Dec. Running from 20 November at the Teatro Maria Guerrero, seat of the Centro Dramtico Nacional, Himmelweg is a play by Spanish dramatist Juan Mayorga based on fact, namely the visit of a delegate from the Red Cross to an extermination camp during the Holocaust. The author attempts to contribute his particular vision of the Holocaust using clear parallelisms with current events. How could the delegate offer a report that appeared favourable regarding the life of the Jews in the concentration camp. There are two other central characters: the German commander of the camp (a man of culture flawed by a streak of barbarism) and a Jewish mayor who is required to mislead the investigator about the fate of the victims. The common denominator of the three central characters is that they all face and are resigned to their own moral dilemmas. Alberto Jimnez, Pere Ponce and Jose Pedro Carrin star in the three leading roles. Himmelweg was the name used by the Germans for the passageway that lead the Jews to the gas chambers.
