Rome's Istituto Svizzero presents an exhibition of archive photos and material on Switzerland seen through more than a century of foreign films, on display at Teatro dei Dioscuri al Quirinale from 5 December until 31 January. This cinematic exhibition offers a glimpse of Switzerland through the eyes of international cinema, backdrops of films—real or otherwise—chosen by 20producers and directors in the 20th century from Laurel & Hardy to Paolo Sorrentino. The exhibition also highlights the international film industry's use of Swiss clichés such as bank vaults, mountain chalets and romantic lakesides. The exhibition will be accompanied in January by a programme of screenings and talks. For details see website.
