Netflix screens Season 2 of Rome crime series Suburra

Second season of Netflix series Suburra hits TV screens in February.

Netflix has announced that the second series of the crime series Suburra, set in Rome's underworld, will hit television screens on 22 February.

Suburra: Blood on Rome (Suburra - La serie) continues the successful ten-episode series which became the first fully-Italian production on Netflix when it launched in October 2017.

Season 2 was produced between April and August 2018, and sees the return of actors Alessandro Borghi, Giacomo Ferrara and Eduardo Valdarnini.

Under the catchline La città eterna non splenderà per sempre (The Eternal City will not shine forever), the series will be available with subtitles in several languages, including English.

The series, whose storyline follows the murky dealings between criminals, politicians and property speculators, is a spin-off of Stefano Sollima's 2015 film Suburra, inspired by the novel of the same name by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini.

In December Netflix made international headlines when it sponsored Rome's Christmas tree.
