On 19 October Rome hosts two events dedicated to the African continent to coincide with the second special assembly for Africa of the synod of bishops, which is taking place in the Vatican until 25 October.

From 09.00-13.30 there will be a conference on the Campidoglio titled Africa: What partnership for reconciliation, justice, and peace? with participation by African bishops, politicians and representatives of the voluntary sector working in Africa. Speakers include Monsignor Nicola Eterovich, secretary general of the synod of bishops, Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office and Vatican Radio, Andrea Riccardi, founder of the S. Egidio community in Rome, and Senegal
