21 June-2 Sept. The gardens of Castel S. Angelo host Letture d'Estate, a programme of "summer readings along the river and among the trees", with free cultural events and children's activities each day from 10.00 until 01.30. Dedicated to books and reading, the programme includes more than 850 events including meetings, readings, music, games, performances and film screenings. The festival will also raise funds for Peter Pan Onlus, the Rome charitable association which provides support for families with children suffering from cancer, whose volunteers will be on hand to oversee games ranging from chess to table-tennis. For details see Letture d'Estate website.
