Rome city council invites residents to report sightings of starlings.
Rome city council has issued a starling hotline as part of its efforts to move the birds away from the centre of the capital.
Residents can report "murmurations" of starlings in Rome by calling the dedicated number - 800904113 - between 15.30 and 17.30 from Monday to Friday.
In addition, the city's sanitation and refuse collection agency AMA Roma has activated a special starling unit dedicated to removing the birds' droppings, or guano, from the streets of the capital.
The city recently drafted in falcons to move some of the wintering starlings - whose numbers are estimated anywhere between 1.5 and four million - away from centre of Rome.
