Outdoor screening of Gladiator with orchestra in Rome on 8-9 June.
Rome is to screen the movie Gladiator, whose soundtrack will be played by a live orchestra, at the Circus Maximus on 8 and 9 June.
Ridley Scott's blockbuster historical drama, starring Russell Crowe, will be shown in high definition on the big screen, accompanied by 200 musicians and choir from the Italian Film Orchestra, under the baton of Californian conductor Justin Freer.
Tickets for both evenings are already on sale, ranging in price from €45 to €250, depending on seat location.
A charity-raising preview of the show will be held on 6 June inside the Colosseum, for a smaller audience, Rome tourism committee chair Carola Penna told Italian news agency ANSA.
Filmed on location in England, Morocco and Malta, Gladiator won five Oscars on its release in 2000.
