A star is named
Lazio has found a place in the heavens with the naming of a star after the region. First spotted by the observatory at Campo Catino in Ciociaria in 1999, the asteroid's presence was recently verified by the Minor planet centre in Massachusetts and named Lazio by the observatory in appreciation of the funding the region has provided for astronomical research. "Lazio" the star is 6 km in diameter and 300 million km from the sun, and its orbit lies between those of Mars and Jupiter.
