Polish tourist scaled Colosseum security gates after closing time.
A 23-year-old Polish tourist was arrested after Rome's urban police officers witnessed him breaking into the Colosseum at 18.30 on 7 September, according to reports in Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.
The intruder, possibly under the influence of drugs, was arrested after a brief search but not before he reportedly attacked two security guards with a knuckle-duster.
The tourist caused injuries to police officers too, as well as the police car, and spent the night at a local hospital before facing the courts on 8 September.
