On-duty soldier shot himself at Rome's central Barberini station.
A police investigation has opened after an Italian soldier killed himself while on duty at Rome's Barberini metro station at 11.00 on Thursday 1 February.
The incident, which occurred after the soldier locked himself in the station's bathroom, caused panic among commuters and security officers who feared an act of terrorism.
