Rome's Drunken Ship pub shut down for 30 days

Police close pub in Rome's Campo de' Fiori over anti-social behaviour.

Rome police have temporarily suspended the license of the Drunken Ship pub in Campo de' Fiori, closing down the popular bar for 30 days.

The closure order is related to recent incidents of anti-social behaviour inside and outside the pub which is frequented by a mixture of tourists, young Italians and visiting American students.

Known for its rowdy reputation, the pub made international headlines in November 2012 when ten Tottenham Hotspur fans were attacked by a large group of masked assailants who also caused extensive structural damage to the bar.

In recent years Campo de’ Fiori has become increasingly synonymous with anti-social activity at night.
