Drunk motorist drove down Rome's Spanish Steps

Rome police arrest Italian driver at Spanish Steps in Rome.

A 27-year-old motorist was arrested in the early hours of 9 December after driving his car, a Peugeot 206, down the first dozen steps of Rome's Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti, known in English as the Spanish Steps.
The Italian driver, who was far in excess of the legal alcohol limit, had been on his way home from a night out when the incident occurred at 06.30.
The 18th-century monument underwent a €1.5 million restoration by luxury fashion house Bulgari between 2015 and 2016.
