Temperatures in Rome plummet as Italy records coldest May in 62 years.
Italy has not been this cold in May since 1957, thanks to an intense wave of arctic air sweeping the country, with unseasonal snowfall, hailstones and icy winds, particularly in the north.
The temperature in Rome on 5 May 2019 was among the lowest for that day in the last decade.
The minimum and maximum temperatures were respectively 7-14° Celsius, compared to a reading the same day last year of 14-20°, or in 2017 with a maximum temperature of 24° for the same day.
