Gian Carlo Menotti (7 July 1911 - 1 Feb 2007)
February 2007. The last time I saw Gian Carlo Menotti was at the presentation of the 2006 Spoleto Festival. He drove into the gardens of Villa Borghese where the event was being held in a beautiful old-fashioned white convertible sports car, wearing a white panama hat and an elegant white linen suit. His usual debonair self at the ripe old age of 95, full of life and cheer, and proud of it. The presentation was crowded as usual, as journalists and Rome
