Rome hosts day-long event dedicated to culture of immigration in Italy.
24 March. On the occasion of the 14th edition of Settimana di azione contro il razzismo (Week of Action against Racism) from 19-25 March, the Istituto Centrale per la Demoetnoantropologia is holding a day of meetings, screenings, live music and readings at Piazza Guglielmo Marconi 10, from 10.00-18.00 on Saturday 24 March.
Entitled A partire dall'arrivo, the event is dedicated to the culture of immigration in Italy and will feature a series of meetings on migration issues. The occasion will also see the presentation of Italia dalle Molte Culture - Casa MigrArti, a programme by Italy's culture ministry designed to foster the creation of cultural activity among the various migrant communities living in Italy.
There will be a screening of a film showing images of Italian migrants in the 1960s to the first landing of Albanian migrants in Puglia in 1991. The programme of events also includes readings and narratives about the arrival of migrants from the Mediterranean, presented in collaboration with CivicoZero, Archivio delle Memorie Migranti, Associazione Isole and Baobab Experience.
