Rome environment councillor resigns

Pinuccia Montanari resigns from Raggi administration.

Rome's environment councillor Pinuccia Montanari resigned from her post on the evening of 8 February.

Montanari's surprise resignation follows her decision to vote against the rest of the city council which rejected the 2017 balance sheet presented by municipal refuse collection company AMA.

Montanari, a former councilllor in Reggio Emilia and Genova, joined the Movimento 5 Stelle administration of Rome mayor Virginia Raggi in December 2016, following the resignation of the city's former environment councillor Paola Muraro after she was put under investigation for alleged environmental crimes.
