The first edition of the newspaper entitled Metropoli, aimed at Italys multi-ethnic society was launched on Sunday. Published in conjunction with the Italian daily La Repubblica, the paper says that it intends to target the increasing number of foreigners in Italy.
Metropoli covers social, political, economic and cultural issues written by journalists of different nationalities. The first edition covered topics such as the obstacles faced in marriages between couples of different ethnic origins; the increasing number of foreigners buying houses in Italy; the difficulties in obtaining Italian citizenship in comparison to other European countries; Albanians working in industry in the north of Italy; and the superstitions of people from different countries.
Metropoli will be published every Sunday and will be available together with La Repubblica for an extra 10 cents.
