Art historian former Italian culture minister Antonio Paolucci has taken over from Francesco Buranelli as the director of the Vatican Museums this month. Paolucci was previously superintendent of the Polo Museale Fiorentino and the regional director of art and culture in Tuscany. In 2006 he was also general director of the Uffizi Gallery, where he created a large new entrance in order to reduce queues
