Naked man jumps into Trevi Fountain

Italian detained by police following daylight incident in Rome fountain.

A naked man paraded through the waters of Rome's Trevi Fountain during the afternoon on 12 April before being detained by police.

The man claimed initially to be foreign but turned out to be an Italian in possession of a stolen identification card. He faces charges of resisting arrest and making false statements.

Last summer images of tourists jumping in Rome's fountains made headlines around the world and attracted much criticism in the capital.
