The 18th Rome Marathon takes place on Sunday 18 March at 09.00 on Via dei Fori Imperiali. This year there are over 16,000 athletes from 82 nations competing in the 42-km marathon.

More than 9,000 are Italian, while the 7,000 foreigners include 733 British, 456 Americans, 146 Irish, 63 Australians, 59 Canadians and two New Zealanders. The youngest athlete is 18-year old Louis Williams from Berkshire in England and the oldest person running is 83-year old Angelo Squadrone from Pisa. There are also 107 disabled athletes participating in the event.
