Longer opening hours at Rome city offices

Registry offices now open all day Monday to Friday

Rome has changed the opening hours of all its anagrafe or registry offices which are now open from 08.00 to 18.30, Monday to Friday.

Previously city offices were mainly open in the mornings only, with some open for a few hours on certain afternoons during the week.

The move has been described as "historic" by the city's mayor Ignazio Marino who said it is now possible to "request and obtain a certificate or an identity card without having to take a day off."

Marino said the new timetable is part of the city's modernisation and will mean that people can process paperwork "without stress and without queuing for kilometres."
