There are numerous strikes and protests in Rome on Wednesday 14 November, causing widespread disruption to the city.
The nationwide strike will see Italy's railway employees cease work from 14.00-18.00, while maritime workers are also expected to delay departure times of ships and ferries by four hours in Civitaveccha. The strikes have been called by Italy's largest trade union CGIL which is protesting over the government's austerity measures.
The train strike will finish as rush hour begins at 18.00, in accordance with strike rules, and the protest does not include the regions of Tuscany and Umbria which are currently dealing with flooding problems. For updates see the Trenitalia website.
