10-12 Oct 2003. In Martha@Romaeuropa, written and directed by Richard Move, choreography and text performed by Martha and the Company. The event, in Italian and English, is a combination of choreography, dramatic monologue, historical material and satire that pays tribute to the great mother of modern dance: Martha Graham. Move developed the project from his popular cabaret series dedicated to Graham, but was also inspired by Cabaret Voltaire and American Vaudeville. In this work, the iconoclastic British choreographer/director combines a reverence for modern dance with the dark humour of nightclubs to illuminate his own shadowy underworld of human perversities and failings.
