30 June. In Violet Kid, Ten Duets on a Theme of Rescue and Hubbub, choreography by Hofesh Shechter, Crystal Pite, Alexander Ekman. The company was founded in 2003 by the Walmart heiress Nancy Laurie. Nearly 10 years later, the 16-member group has become a New York success story, and possibly the country’s most innovative contemporary dance reality with a superb repertoire and more than a whim for creation. The triple bill chosen for the occasion exhibits three distinct and thoroughly developed forms of dance theatre, and the lighting by Jim French is remarkable in its own right.
