29 June-2 Sept. The long running summer drama season at the wonderful Anfiteatro della Quercia del Tasso reaches its 46^th edition. The perfect stone amphitheatre overlooking the roofs and cupolas of Rome on the Gianicolo was built over three centuries ago. It got its name from the 16th-century poet, Torquato Tasso, who drew inspiration from it.

Since 1965 it has become a summer 'must' for light-hearted comical theatre. Don't expect high quality drama, but a pleasant and relaxed evening with a sure bag of laughs. This year’s calendar goes back to its Greek and Roman tradition with the Amphitryon by Plautus, and then there is Goldoni’s La Locandiera, Macchiavelli’s La Mandragola, and a comic take on Anton Chekov entitled Il lato comico di Anton.
